This one chestnut tree grew to canopy height, and lower portions of its main trunk are still alive and sprouting suckers. It must have held out better than most others!
Before you sweep them off the table, take a whiff. I often find a hint of pleasantly spicy mustiness on the fuzzy underside of sycamore leaves.
