Most distinctive about this leaf is the vein pattern, which stops short of the double-serrated edge of the leaf. Also, look closely at the leaf-stem just below the leaf, and notice red glands. These are "extra floral nectaries" according to wikipedia. Since this young tree is right by the Laurel Brook trail, I'll be sure to keep an eye out, later this season, for fruit!
