This species of maple is most readily distinguished by the seed samaras which splay outward much more dramatically than those of any other (including sugar maple, which its leaf most resembles). I'm not especially enthusiastic about finding it at Wadsworth, since it's an encroaching species that has been spreading faster than native maples. But in the spirit of cataloguing what can be found here at Wadsworth, here it is.
