Leafy path turning
Published by espringer,
The trail seems shallow, but the appearance is deceptive, as the hole poked through by a ski pole (bottom right) shows. The snow was about two feet deep, but the path had been repeatedly tamped down, with snow then blowing in again. The leaves, too, had all been swept away from the rest of the ground, and had settled in the path, looking like a trail of bread-crumbs.
